2 step procedure for Screening and diagnosis of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus(ADA)

Glucose Screen in pregnancy. ADA recommends 2 step procedure for Screening and diagnosis of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM). Step 1: A 50 g glucose challenge test (GCT) is used for screening without regard to the time of last meal or time of the day.Step 2: If 1 hour GCT value is more than 140 mg/dl, 100g Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) is recommended and plasma glucose is estimated at 0, 1, 2 and 3 hours.G0027_50(post glucose 1 hr 50 gms ) and G0066 (GTT-Gestational 3 hrs 100 gms glucose). If Post Glucose 1hr 50 gms value Above 140 then reflex G0066 GTT-Gestational ,Three Hour(100 grams glucose) taken.
