ANTI SPERM AB SERUM
₹1,600
The serum anti-sperm antibody test detects antibodies that attack sperm in the blood of men or women. These antibodies can reduce sperm movement, block fertilization, or cause sperm clumping.
A normal result is negative, or below the lab’s cut-off value.
A positive result suggests immunological infertility. In men, it may follow vasectomy or its reversal, testicular injury, infection, or surgery. In women, antibodies may affect sperm in the reproductive tract.
Serum testing is less specific than direct semen testing (MAR test), so results are interpreted with other fertility tests.
You should get a serum anti-sperm antibody test if you have unexplained infertility despite normal routine fertility tests, or if a semen analysis shows sperm clumping or poor motility. Men may need it after vasectomy reversal, testicular injury, infection, or surgery. It is also recommended for recurrent IVF or IUI failure.
No special preparation or fasting is required for a serum anti-sperm antibody test. Inform your doctor about any vasectomy or its reversal, testicular injury or surgery, recent genital infections, and medicines like steroids or immunosuppressants, as these can affect results. Bring previous semen analysis or fertility reports if available.
No, fasting is not required for a serum anti-sperm antibody test. You can eat and drink normally before giving your sample, and the test can be done at any time of day. Inform your doctor about any past vasectomy, testicular surgery, infections, or steroid use, as these may affect the results.
