Anti Phospholipid IgM
₹1,000
The anti-phospholipid IgM test detects IgM autoantibodies against phospholipids, which can increase the risk of abnormal blood clotting and pregnancy complications.
A normal result is negative, typically below 10–20 MPL U/mL, varying by lab.
Positive anti-phospholipid IgM may indicate antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), associated with recurrent miscarriages, DVT, pulmonary embolism, and stroke. It is often seen with lupus (SLE). IgM can also rise temporarily after infections or certain medicines.
Diagnosis requires persistent positivity on two tests at least 12 weeks apart, usually alongside IgG testing.
You should get an anti-phospholipid IgM test if you have recurrent miscarriages, unexplained blood clots (DVT or pulmonary embolism), or a stroke at a young age. It is also recommended for people with lupus (SLE) or other autoimmune diseases, low platelets or a prolonged aPTT, and before planning pregnancy after previous losses.
No special preparation or fasting is required for an anti-phospholipid IgM test. Inform your doctor about any blood thinners (don't stop them without advice), recent infections, medications, or pregnancy, since infections can temporarily raise IgM and cause false-positive results. A repeat test after 12 weeks may be needed to confirm a positive result.
No, fasting is not required for an anti-phospholipid IgM test. You can eat and drink normally before giving your sample. Inform your doctor about any blood thinners, recent infections, or pregnancy, as these may affect interpretation. Don't stop any prescribed medicine without your doctor's advice.
