Urine microalbumin
₹600
The urine microalbumin test detects very small amounts of albumin in urine that routine urine tests may miss. It is the earliest indicator of kidney damage.
Normal urine microalbumin is below 30 mg/L (or below 30 mg/g when expressed as a ratio). Levels of 30–300 indicate microalbuminuria.
Raised microalbumin is an early sign of diabetic nephropathy and hypertensive kidney disease, and indicates higher heart disease risk. Fever, infection, or strenuous exercise can cause temporary rises.
Early detection allows treatment to protect kidney function.Urine microalbumin test Medical evaluation for Urine microalbumin.
You should get a urine microalbumin test every year if you have diabetes (from diagnosis for type 2, and 5 years after diagnosis for type 1) or high blood pressure. It is also recommended for people with chronic kidney disease, heart disease, obesity, or a family history of kidney disease, and for monitoring treatment.
No fasting is required for a urine microalbumin test. Collect a first morning, midstream urine sample in a sterile container. Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours beforehand, and avoid testing during fever, urinary infection, or menstruation, as these can falsely raise microalbumin levels. Inform your doctor about any medicines you take.
