Microalbumin/Creatinine Ratio , Urine
₹850
The urine microalbumin/creatinine ratio (UACR) measures small amounts of albumin in urine, compared with creatinine, using a simple spot urine sample. It is the earliest marker of kidney damage.
UACR levels are classified as:
Raised UACR indicates early diabetic or hypertensive kidney disease and increased heart disease risk.
Abnormal results should be confirmed on repeat testing over 3–6 months.
You should get a urine microalbumin/creatinine ratio test every year if you have diabetes (from diagnosis for type 2, and 5 years after diagnosis for type 1) or high blood pressure. It is also recommended for people with chronic kidney disease, heart disease, obesity, or a family history of kidney disease, and for monitoring treatment.
No fasting is required for a urine microalbumin/creatinine ratio test. Collect a first morning, midstream urine sample in a sterile container. Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours beforehand, and avoid testing during fever, urinary tract infection, or menstruation, as these can falsely raise albumin. Inform your doctor about any medicines.
