LH
₹650
The LH test measures luteinizing hormone, produced by the pituitary gland. It triggers ovulation in women and testosterone production in men.
Normal LH levels vary by sex, age, and menstrual cycle phase, with a sharp mid-cycle surge before ovulation.
High LH may indicate menopause, premature ovarian failure, PCOS (often with an LH:FSH ratio above 2:1), or testicular failure. Low LH suggests pituitary or hypothalamic disorders, stress, low body weight, or high prolactin.
The test helps evaluate infertility, irregular periods, puberty disorders, and ovulation timing.
You should get an LH test if you have irregular or absent periods, difficulty conceiving, or symptoms of PCOS such as acne or excess hair growth. Men may need it for low sperm count, low libido, or erectile problems. It is also recommended for early or delayed puberty, suspected menopause, and pituitary disorders.
No fasting is required for an LH test. Women should usually test on days 2–5 of the menstrual cycle, unless the doctor advises testing mid-cycle for ovulation. Inform your doctor about oral contraceptives, hormone therapy, or fertility medicines, as these can affect results. Stop biotin supplements 48–72 hours beforehand.
No, fasting is not required for an LH test. You can eat and drink normally before giving your sample. However, timing matters for women: the test is usually done on days 2–5 of the menstrual cycle, unless your doctor advises otherwise. Stop biotin supplements 48–72 hours beforehand.
