CRP(C-REACTIVE PROTEIN)
₹600
The CRP test measures C-reactive protein, a protein made by the liver that rises quickly during inflammation or infection.
Normal CRP levels are typically below 6–10 mg/L, varying by lab.
Mildly raised CRP (10–40 mg/L) may indicate viral infections or mild inflammation. Very high CRP (above 100 mg/L) often suggests bacterial infections, sepsis, or severe inflammation. High CRP is also seen in rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, tissue injury, and after surgery.
CRP helps detect inflammation, guide antibiotic use, and monitor treatment response.
You should get a CRP test if you have fever, chills, body aches, joint pain or swelling, persistent fatigue, or other signs of infection or inflammation. It is also recommended for monitoring rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and recovery after surgery, and for tracking response to antibiotics or anti-inflammatory treatment.
No special preparation or fasting is required for a CRP test. Inform your doctor about any anti-inflammatory medicines, steroids, statins, or hormone therapy, as these can affect CRP levels. Also mention recent injuries, infections, surgery, or pregnancy. Avoid strenuous exercise before the test.
No, fasting is not required for a CRP test. You can eat and drink normally before giving your sample. However, if other tests that need fasting, such as blood sugar or a lipid profile, are ordered alongside it, follow those instructions. Inform your doctor about any anti-inflammatory medicines or recent infections.
