ANTI HCV - RAPID
₹800
The anti-HCV rapid test is a quick card-based screening test that detects antibodies against hepatitis C virus (HCV), with results in about 15–20 minutes.
A negative result suggests no hepatitis C antibodies, though very recent infection (within 8–12 weeks) may be missed. A positive result indicates past or current hepatitis C infection, since antibodies remain even after recovery.
It is useful for emergency, pre-surgery, and mass screening. However, it is less sensitive than ELISA or CLIA. Positive results need HCV RNA testing to confirm active infection.
You should get an anti-HCV rapid test when quick screening for hepatitis C is needed, such as before surgery, dialysis, or blood donation, or in screening camps. It is also recommended if you have jaundice, fatigue, or abnormal liver tests, or risk factors like injection drug use, past blood transfusion, tattoos, or needle-stick injury.
No special preparation or fasting is required for an anti-HCV rapid test. A small blood sample from a finger prick or vein is used. Inform your doctor about any recent exposure, as testing too soon (within 8–12 weeks) may give a false-negative result. A positive result needs confirmation with HCV RNA testing.
No, fasting is not required for an anti-HCV rapid test. You can eat and drink normally before the test, and it can be done at any time of day. Results are usually available within 15–20 minutes. A positive result should be confirmed with an HCV RNA test to check for active infection.
