About this test

The ALL multiplex panel uses RT-PCR to detect six key gene fusions in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL):

  • t(9;22) BCR-ABL1 (Philadelphia chromosome): high risk; guides targeted therapy such as imatinib
  • t(12;21) ETV6-RUNX1: common in children, with a favorable prognosis
  • t(1;19) TCF3-PBX1: intermediate risk
  • t(4;11), t(9;11), t(11;19) KMT2A (MLL) fusions: high risk, especially in infants

Results help classify ALL, predict prognosis, select treatment intensity, and monitor minimal residual disease (MRD).

Questions about this test

When should I get the ALL Multiplex Panel - 6 Fusions [T(9;22),T(12;21),T(1;19),T(4;11) T(9;11) T(11;19) test?

An ALL multiplex panel (6 fusions) is advised by a hematologist at the time of diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), or when blood or bone marrow tests show leukemic blast cells. It helps assess risk and plan treatment. It may also be repeated during and after therapy to monitor response and detect relapse.

How should I prepare for the ALL Multiplex Panel - 6 Fusions [T(9;22),T(12;21),T(1;19),T(4;11) T(9;11) T(11;19) test?

No fasting is required for an ALL multiplex panel done on a blood sample. If a bone marrow sample is needed, inform your doctor about blood thinners or bleeding disorders, and fast only if sedation is planned. Ideally, give the sample before starting chemotherapy. Samples must reach the lab promptly for accurate results.

Do I require fasting for the ALL Multiplex Panel - 6 Fusions [T(9;22),T(12;21),T(1;19),T(4;11) T(9;11) T(11;19) test?

[T(9;22),T(12;21),T(1;19),T(4;11) T(9;11) T(11;19) test? No, fasting is not required for an ALL multiplex panel (6 fusions) when a blood sample is used. You can eat and drink normally. However, if the test is done on a bone marrow sample under sedation, you may need to fast for 4–6 hours. Follow your doctor’s specific instructions.
